If you’re searching for a dining experience that combines stunning scenery with delicious food, look no further than Shadowbrook. Nestled amid lush greenery and nestled in the hills, this remarkable restaurant is a true gem that never ceases to amaze. Allow me to take you on a journey through my recent visit that was nothing short of spectacular!
A Scenic Arrival
My adventure began with a ride on one of Shadowbrook’s charming old-school taxis. If you’re within a few miles of the restaurant, I highly recommend requesting a pickup! The drivers are incredibly friendly, and the scenic route they take along the coastline adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.
As we drove, I was treated to breathtaking views of the sunset painting the sky with vibrant colors. We passed through Pleasure Point and The Hook, two of my favorite local spots that showcase California’s natural beauty. The drive toward Capitola only heightened my anticipation, as this coastal town is another picturesque place to catch the sunset.
The Cable Car Experience
Upon arriving at Shadowbrook, we were greeted by a quaint little cable car that took us down to the entrance of the restaurant. Walking down is a must at least once, as the lush greenery and charming waterfalls set the stage for what awaits inside. Just a heads up – there are quite a few stairs, but the scenery more than makes up for it!
A Warm Welcome
Stepping inside, I was immediately captivated by the beautiful bar area lined with greenery and an inviting atmosphere. The restaurant boasts various dining rooms, each offering a unique ambiance, along with an outdoor patio for those who want to dine al fresco while soaking in the surroundings.
Delighting the Taste Buds
To kick off our meal, we chose the baked brie as our appetizer. This delightful dish featured a delicate pastry, mild jalapeño jelly, and herbed crostini that was bursting with flavor. It’s the perfect way to start any meal!
For my main course, I opted for the shrimp scampi, adding steak for good measure. Both were incredible! The grilled vegetable medley was a standout vegetarian option, served alongside delicious coconut rice that complemented the meal perfectly.
Sweet Ending
No meal is complete without dessert, and Shadowbrook did not disappoint. We were surprised with a birthday dessert pie accompanied by ice cream—an indulgent treat that was simply to die for. And for fellow crème brûlée lovers, their vanilla bean version with an Italian cookie is a must-try!
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Shadowbrook is a dining experience that should not be missed. With its stunning views, delicious food, and charming atmosphere, it’s no wonder this restaurant stands out as one of my favorites. Each visit feels like a special occasion, and I can’t wait to return for another unforgettable evening.
If you're looking for a unique place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a wonderful meal, make your way to Shadowbrook—you won’t regret it!
